Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a severe headache , hurting in top of my head on one side, hurting around my eyes for about 6 hrs. I took up to 4 advils in order to stop the pain. The symptoms went away and now there is a sore spot on the back of my head at the bottom right side. Tension headache or sinus? I haven t had a sinus headache in 20 yrs or more. I m in a stressful situation careing for a sick husband.
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic forum. I understand your concerns. It is tension headache in most cases and it can be treated with nonsteroid painkillers such as Advil or Ibuprofen or paracetamol. Also, avoid noisy areas, intensive lights and physical activity. If there is no improvement on these measures then it may indicate migraines or some other more serious issues so you should do head CT scan in this case and see neurologist since some more sophisticated medications may be required. Stress is definitely worsening factor in these cases and you should work on it too. Some sedative and muscle relaxants such as diazepam may be beneficial as well. I hope I have answered your query. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
